According to JRR Tolkien, the Mallorn tree is the home of the elves in Lothlorien.
This is the vision the Brothers Hildebrandt had of the Fellowship of the ring when they entered Lothlorien.

Mallorn Trees had silver trunks and golden leaves.
The Lady Galadriel gave Sam Gamgee a seed for a Mallorn Tree and he planted it back in ‘The Shire’ where the Party Tree had previously stood.
When we first bought our home in Lorien Gardens, South Woodham Ferrers, our house overlooked a green, and I figured the name appropriate.
